Cornelia Gruenberg

Since my directing studies at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin and my award-winning graduation film „PAUL IV.“ (based on the novel „Paul Vier und die Schröders“ by Andreas Steinhöfel), I have had the good fortune to be able to direct new film projects for film and television again and again. These have been invited to many national and international film festivals.

I love exciting, entertaining stories like the one told in our adventure film „Zwei in einem Boot“(aka „Two in a Boat“). With this film, I participated in the competition of the Berlinale section 14Plus in 1999. Two in a Boat“ ran successfully on German television after its theatrical release and has also been on the market as a DVD since 2016 and is still available on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime – after more than 20 years!

I am interested in stories that are told close to the people, committed and with heart, that make you think and encourage you. I am fascinated by extraordinary people, as I was able to portray in my theatrical documentaries „VIERZEHN – Erwachsen in neun Monaten“ (premiered at the Berlinale 2012) and „ACHTZEHN – Wagnis Leben“ (D 2014), starring the young women Lisa, Steffi, Laura and Fabienne. Both films were also invited to numerous national and international festivals, are still shown in German cinemas as part of Vision Kino, and are available on DVD and on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime.

These theatrical documentaries are part of my long-term project 14-18-28.

I have been on the board of the German Directors‘ Association since 2018 and represent the interests of directors on the board of directors and presidium of the FFA since 2022.
